As a reminder, we will have a business meeting on March 2nd to adopt bylaws to keep our club in compliance with Rotary International. The amended proposed draft bylaws reflect that we have an annual meeting in the first week of December (Article 5, Section 1). Due to the need for an immediate meeting to vote in new officers, Article 3, Section 1 notes that, for the initial adoption of the bylaws, the new officers can be voted on at the meeting where the bylaws are adopted (March 2).

Rescheduled: Completion of the Willis Field Dugouts in Crittenden

Completion of the Willis Field Dugouts in Crittenden has been re-scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 9:00 AM. We did not have enough sign-ups for last weeks work day, which as rescheduled for this Saturday due to weather. Please sign up if you can make it even for just one hour.

We will complete the fence installation and build at least 2 more benches. A reporter from the Suffolk Sun will be present to conduct an interview and take pictures. If there are any questions call Bill Cary at 376-7287.

Suffolk First Citizen Nomination

Suffolk’s First Citizen is awarded to an outstanding individual who best exemplifies the spirit of citizenship and who has shown significant leadership through his/her time, talents, and efforts in order to make Suffolk a better place to live.

The Suffolk Rotary Club and the North Suffolk Rotary Club are accepting nominations for Suffolk’s First Citizen. Nominations must be postmarked by Thursday February 23, 2012. Nominees must be a resident of the City of Suffolk. Attach letters of endorsements to this application or provide additional information at the bottom of blow form. The reception honoring the recipient will be Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 6:30 pm.

The reception will be held once again at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts.

This will be at the Family Life Center at Ebenezer United Methodist Church where we will be packing meal packages.
